Stage One Drought Restrictions in Effect
The long, dry spell has finally triggered water restrictions. Stage One of the city's drought plan is triggered when the level of the Edwards Aquifer drops to 660 feet or below at the J-17 monitoring well near Ft. Sam Houston. As of Friday, April 10th, the official aquifer reading was 660.0. With ongoing predictions of dry weather, the decline is expected to continue.
Two Taggers Arrested in Northeast San Antonio
On Thursday, April 9th and in the early morning hours of Friday, April 10th, North SAFFE Officer's Kelly Bender and Royce Vasquez apprehended two tagging suspects.
The suspects were not caught "in the act" but were arrested for articles used in graffiti implementation - 10 cans of spray paint and 16 permanent markers. Also, confiscated were cell phones with pictures of their "art" and postal labels with tagging ready to be adhered to signs. The automobile they were driving was impounded. The two were responsible for "Emek" and "Vert" taggings. Depending on the legal system, the case may not be able to be prosecuted but if you are a victim of their actions you may still hold the suspects civilly responsible. The burden of proof is not as demanding in civil court as in criminal court. To the right, you will see photo's of the suspect's alleged taggings. If you have received damage to your property and wish to pursue a civil claim against potential suspects, you can file a case against them in small claims court. To pursue a criminal charge for tagging (criminal mischief), you may contact a SAPD property crime detective at 207-8126 and inform the detective that you would like to file charges or that you would like more information.
Source: SAPD North Substation. As you can read in the following newspaper article, tagging suspects are all ages.
