Stage One Drought Restrictions in Effect

The long, dry spell has finally triggered water restrictions.  Stage One of the city's drought plan is triggered when the level of the Edwards Aquifer drops to 660 feet or below at the J-17 monitoring well near Ft. Sam Houston. As of Friday, April 10th, the official aquifer reading was 660.0. With ongoing predictions of dry weather, the decline is expected to continue.

The major difference people will notice in Stage One is the
one-day-per-week landscape watering schedule. Watering with a sprinkler or irrigation system is allowed only before 10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. on the assigned day, as determined by the last number of the resident's street address:

0 or 1 - Monday
2 or 3 - Tuesday
4 or 5 - Wednesday
6 or 7 - Thursday
8 or 9 - Friday

Remember: the watering day begins and ends at midnight;
overnight watering is not allowed.

According to the city's Aquifer Management Plan ordinance, the level must stay above 660 ft. for 30 days to end Stage One water restrictions.

Details on Stage One rules are available online at

Two Taggers Arrested in Northeast San Antonio

On Thursday, April 9th and in the early morning hours of Friday, April 10th, North SAFFE Officer's Kelly Bender and Royce Vasquez apprehended two tagging suspects.

The suspects were not caught "in the act" but were arrested for articles used in graffiti implementation - 10 cans of spray paint and 16 permanent markers.  Also, confiscated were cell phones with pictures of their "art" and postal labels with tagging ready to be adhered to signs.  The automobile they were driving was impounded.  The two were responsible for "Emek" and "Vert" taggings.  Depending on the legal system, the case may not be able to be prosecuted but if you are a victim of their actions you may still hold the suspects civilly responsible.  The burden of proof is not as demanding in civil court as in criminal court.

To the right, you will see photo's of the suspect's alleged taggings.  If you have received damage to your property and wish to pursue a civil claim against potential suspects, you can file a case against them in small claims court. To pursue a criminal charge for tagging (criminal mischief), you may contact a SAPD property crime detective at 207-8126 and inform the detective that you would like to file charges or that you would like more information.

As you can read in the following newspaper article, tagging suspects are all ages.

Unlikely "tagger" nabbed in Lake George

LAKE GEORGE- An unlikely suspect is nabbed for "tagging" by the Warren County Sheriff's office.  Police arrested 70-year old Dr. Kenneth Hopper from Chestertown and charged him with graffiti and possessing graffiti paraphernalia.  Police said they saw Dr. Hopper spray paint the word "rowlow" on the Warren County Bike Trail overpass on State Route 9L in the Town of Lake George around 2:50 p.m. Saturday afternoon.  Police said that Dr. Hopper told them he did not know what the word meant but thought it was "intriguing".
